The EU AI Act
Steve serves as Counsel for Cyber, Data Privacy & Technology at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, a 300-lawyer with offices in 8 cities, including Washington, D.C. & Atlanta, GA. Steve works in Charleston, S.C. & Washington, D.C.
Steve is an experienced software licensing attorney with deep cybersecurity and data privacy expertise. He holds the CIPP/E (Europe) and CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) certifications for data privacy and will soon acquire IAPP’s new artificial intelligence certification (Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional).
Steve advises U.S. and international companies on the full range of data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, the Colorado Privacy Act, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act and other state data privacy laws. Steve helps clients operationalize data privacy by conducting data maps, drafting privacy policies, implementing data subject access requests, opt-in & opt-out consents, privacy notices and written information security programs. He also conducts data privacy due diligence for corporate M&A transactions and provides strategic data management advice to private equity investors.
In prior Administrations, Steve served in a series of senior (Non-Career SES) Executive Branch positions, a Presidential campaign and as Congressional liaison for the Office of the President-elect (WH Transition Office).
