OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced collaboration with the U.S. AI Safety Institute, a federal body assessing AI risks, to provide early access to OpenAI’s next major generative AI model for safety testing.
The announcement was made in a post on X late Thursday evening.
Details of the agreement were sparse.
The agreement, along with a similar deal with the U.K.’s AI safety body struck in June, aims to counter the narrative that OpenAI has deprioritized AI safety in favor of developing more powerful generative AI technologies.
