About United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80)
UNGA 80 is the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, taking place in New York in September 2025. It marks the UN’s 80th anniversary, bringing together leaders from all 193 member states to discuss global priorities like peace, human rights, sustainable development, climate change, and health. This year’s theme is “Better Together: 80 years and more for peace, development, and human rights.” The session also launches the UN80 reform initiative, aimed at making the UN more effective for the future.
About UNGA80 Roundtable
Democratic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance for Global Peace and Prosperity
September 23, 2025
3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
New York | UNGA80
Co-hosted by Club de Madrid and RegulatingAI
The UNGA80 Roundtable brings together democratic leaders, AI governance experts, and senior diplomats for a high-level closed-door conversation on one of the defining challenges of our time: how to embed democratic values in AI governance.
As AI reshapes governance, development, and security, the session will explore whether it can reinforce democracy and cooperation — or deepen inequality and authoritarian misuse.
This discussion is a crucial step toward treating AI as a global public good governed by principles of democracy, equity, transparency, and inclusion.
