The European Commission needs to invest more in artificial intelligence to match the ambitions and capabilities of the US and China, according to a report by the European Court of Auditors (ECA) published today (29 May).
The ECA, responsible for vetting EU finances, stated that despite developing AI regulation set to enter into force next month, the Commission failed to coordinate AI policy with individual member states.
The report also highlighted the Commission’s failure to systematically monitor AI investment.
