U.S. and UAE Strike $200 Billion AI Partnership During Trump’s Mideast Visit
Washington, D.C. | May 16, 2025 – The White House announced that former President Donald Trump, during his visit to the United Arab Emirates, secured agreements worth more than $200 billion between the U.S. and UAE. During President Donald Trump’s visit to the UAE, significant deals were announced, including a $14.5 billion commitment from Etihad Airways to purchase 28 Boeing aircraft powered by GE Aerospace engines.
Additionally, the two nations unveiled a new 5-gigawatt AI campus in Abu Dhabi, poised to be the largest outside the United States, and established the “US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership” to deepen cooperation in AI development. These developments mark a pivotal moment in global AI strategy, positioning the UAE as a central player in the international AI landscape. However, they also raise important questions about the governance, ethical considerations, and long-term implications of such expansive technological collaborations.
