Tom Wheeler served as the 31st Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from 2013 to 2017, during which he led adoption of landmark policies including net-neutrality, increased consumer privacy protections, expanded broadband access, and stronger cybersecurity standards. Before his FCC tenure, he was a longtime telecom executive and lobbyist — including President and CEO of the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) and of the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA). After leaving the FCC, Wheeler became a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution and a senior fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School, contributing ongoing thought leadership on technology policy, internet governance, and media regulation.
