Thorsten Jelinek is a Visiting Professor at the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). pp2024.casconf.cn+1 He also serves as Europe Director of the Taihe Institute and as a Research Fellow at the Hertie School Centre for Digital Governance.
Dr. Jelinek holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Cambridge, an M.Sc. in Organizational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics, and a B.Sc. in Software Engineering & Business Administration. His career spans academic research, digital-policy governance, and global technology oversight — giving him strong expertise in digital governance, AI policy, and socio-technical systems.
At CAS and beyond, Jelinek contributes to bridging academic insight and international policy: he participates in global governance dialogues (including via engagement with the T20), writes on challenges such as digital sovereignty, and helps shape frameworks for responsible AI, digital infrastructure, and data governance. Through his roles, he advances multi-stakeholder cooperation across academia, policy institutions, and international organizations to guide ethical, sustainable digital transformation.
