Matt Meyer is the Governor of Delaware, having assumed office in January 2025. Previously, he served as New Castle County Executive from 2017 to 2025, leading Delaware’s largest county with a focus on housing, public health, and inclusive governance. A former public-school math teacher and attorney, Meyer has a background in diplomacy — he spent a year in Mosul, Iraq, embedded with the U.S. Army — and in entrepreneurship, founding a recycled footwear company in Kenya. He is known for his expertise in sustainable development, community-oriented policing, smart growth planning (earning a leadership award from the American Planning Association), and expanding access to affordable housing and social services.
