Huub Janssen serves as Manager on AI at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and at the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure (RDI), where he leads national supervisory efforts on artificial intelligence. He chairs both the Dutch and European working groups of competent authorities overseeing AI, bringing together more than 20 supervisory bodies across jurisdictions. Under his guidance, RDI is building frameworks for AI governance, cybersecurity, and standards-setting — adapting insights from his prior role supervising cybersecurity (under the NIS Directive) to address risks posed by generative and other AI systems. Janssen is known for championing forward-looking, multidisciplinary supervision approaches that balance innovation with safety, accountability, and public-interest values.
