Effy Vayena is Professor of Bioethics at ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), where she leads the Health Ethics & Policy Lab and serves as Associate Vice President for Digital Transformation & Governance. Her research addresses ethical, legal, and societal implications of genomics, digital health, big-data analytics, and AI in medicine. She co-chairs expert advisory work on health-AI ethics and governance for World Health Organization (WHO) and has advised national and international bodies on data governance, personalized medicine, and digital-health regulation. Vayena also co-directs the SNF Bioethics Academy (Stavros Niarchos Foundation), helping train professionals on contemporary bioethical challenges and promoting globally-informed, responsible innovation in health and technology.
