Kathleen A. Kramer is the 2025 President and CEO of IEEE — the world’s largest technical professional association.
A Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of San Diego, she previously chaired its engineering department and served as Director of Engineering (2004–2013), building new academic programs in signal processing, robotics, mechatronics, and communications.
At IEEE, Kramer has held leadership roles including Secretary, Region 6 Director, vice-president of the Aerospace & Electronic Systems Society, and chair of funding-model reform initiatives.
Her vision for 2025 and beyond — dubbed “One IEEE” — aims to unify global technical communities, expand interdisciplinary collaboration, support emerging engineers (especially students and underrepresented groups), and steer IEEE’s legacy of advancing technology for humanity.
