« Despite recent press reports that the Digital Government Committee of
Cambodia is planning to make a Khmer language version of ChatGPT
available to the public in the near future and the use by Government
ministries of AI technology to perform certain administrative tasks and
potential new legislation regarding digital management, no official plan
has been announced to regulate the use of AI in Cambodia. As at 19
May 2023, while OpenAI’s online ChatGPT service is not available in
Cambodia, other AI services can be freely accessed. » Currently there is no specific legislation governing or regulating AI. The
Malaysian government is considering further regulatory measures by
enhancing existing legislation and formulating a national framework to
regulate these new technologies. Initiatives such as developing an AI
Governance Framework, establishing a cybersecurity policy, creating an
AI Code of Ethics, and collaborating with various industries to create
privacy, security, and other ethical standards have been included in
this project. The government may also need to establish additional
regulations for using ChatGPT in all sectors.
