The country is making progress on the main goals of its 2021 AI Action Plan: it launched its National AI Centre at the end of 2021. In 2022, the country passed the Data Availability and Transparency Act, which created a National Data Commissioner and established a system for sharing public sector data which could improve AI readiness. Austrlia also has 8 AI Ethics Principles to ensure AI is safe, secure and reliable.
