Presently, there is no specific law or regulation in Bangladesh that addresses the use of artificial intelligence. A “National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence” was issued by the Government in March 2020. It states, among others, AI has progressively improved every aspect of the society, and there should be a strong legal and ethical framework on how AI would be implemented in applications. AI ethics should be righteous, fundamentally sound, assessable, reversible and inclusive.
« No specific laws or regulations on AI, but Privacy Act 2019 may be
relevant. The law also restricts obtaining data without the permission of
individuals like health examination, property, family matters, biometrics
detail, thumb impression, political affiliation and business transaction. » Currently, India has no codified laws, statutory rules or regulations,
or even government-issued guidelines, that regulate AI per se. The
obligations on this subject are set out in the Information Technology
Act 2000, and the rules and regulations framed thereunder.
