Despite recent press reports that the Digital Government Committee of Cambodia is planning to make a Khmer language version of ChatGPT available to the public in the near future and the use by Government ministries of AI technology to perform certain administrative tasks and potential new legislation regarding digital management, no official plan has been announced to regulate the use of AI in Cambodia. As at 19 May 2023, while OpenAI’s online ChatGPT service is not available in Cambodia, other AI services can be freely accessed.
« Currently no specific legislation on AT. A guidline was published by the
Information Technology Risk Supervision department of the Bank of
Thailand on using AI in the financial institutional sector5. There is also
the (Draft) Thailand National AI Strategy and Action Plan (2022 – 2027)
(not law), provides that by the end of 2024 an AI law & regulation will
be enforced. » There is currently no authority designated to monitor the use and
development of AI in Hong Kong. As far as the collection and use of
personal data in the course of training or operating AI is concerned,
the PCPD is the authority responsible for enforcing privacy law
in Hong Kong.
