Currently no specific legislation on AT. A guidline was published by the Information Technology Risk Supervision department of the Bank of Thailand on using AI in the financial institutional sector5. There is also the (Draft) Thailand National AI Strategy and Action Plan (2022 – 2027) (not law), provides that by the end of 2024 an AI law & regulation will be enforced.

Recently, however, the country introduced a law that regulates how
private companies use online algorithms for consumer marketing. The
law requires companies to inform users of AI for marketing purposes
and bans the use of customer financial data to advertise the same

apply to the Chinese government’s use of AI. Along with China’s federal
regulation, in September of 2022, Shanghai became the first province
to pass a law focused on private-sector AI development. The law titled
Shanghai Regulations on Promoting the Development of the AI Industry
provides a framework for companies in the region to develop their AI
products in line with non-Chinese AI regulations. » Despite recent press reports that the Digital Government Committee of
Cambodia is planning to make a Khmer language version of ChatGPT
available to the public in the near future and the use by Government
ministries of AI technology to perform certain administrative tasks and
potential new legislation regarding digital management, no official plan
has been announced to regulate the use of AI in Cambodia. As at 19
May 2023, while OpenAI’s online ChatGPT service is not available in
Cambodia, other AI services can be freely accessed.
